GUI BISTRO owner comes from Binyang, Nanning, Guangxi Province, hoping to bring the flavors of her rural hometown to the city dining table. To reconcile urban and regional flavors, the R&D team also comes from the hometown of Guangxi Paolong. They spent nearly a year preparing, searching for the highest quality ingredients, and through hard work and constant experimentation between traditional recipes and new ideas, this Guangxi cuisine has finally come to Shanghai. GUI BISTRO has adhered to the original intention of "old recipe, new inheritance", and adopted the home pickled Chinese cabbage, pickled peppers, sour bamboo shoots, yellow peel acid bridgehead and other imported and special Chinese ingredients for research and development. The Pao Long Festival is a unique traditional festival originating in Bin County, Guangxi, dating back to the Northern Song Dynasty. Every year on the eleventh day of the first lunar month, the town of Bin County becomes a hub of celebration, where locals and visitors gather to honor their ancestors. Activities include eye-dotting ceremonies, dragon blessing rituals, the spirited Pao Long dance, and the resounding clamor of drums, gongs, and firecrackers as dragons come to life. Bringing the taste of hometown traditions to urban dining tables has always been the aspiration of the brand's founder.
The design inspiration for the Guibajiao space draws from the "dragon" element of the Pao Long Festival. The restaurant's ceiling features soft and intricate fabric materials arranged to resemble an abstract dragon spiraling in the air. Light and ethereal, it elegantly envelops the dining area. The dragon symbolizes auspicious blessings and abundant harvests.
